Colorado Avalanche Notes

CHASING 300
Milan Hejduk and Ryan Smyth have each scored 299 career goals, one shy of the 300 markShould Hejduk and Smyth reach the milestone tonight, they would become only the second teammates in NHL history to both score their 300th career goal in the same game … Danny Gare and Ivan Boldirev accomplished the feat for Detroit on Feb. 26, 1983 against the New York Islanders at Joe Louis Arena.

Hejduk, who has spent his entire career with Colorado, will become only the fourth player in franchise history to reach 300 goals, joining Joe Sakic (625), Michel Goulet (456) and Peter Stastny (380) … Hejduk and Sakic (391) will be the only players to score 300 goals with the Avalanche (since 1995-96) … Smyth has tallied 29 goals with Colorado, five with the New York Islanders and 265 with the Edmonton Oilers … The last set of teammates to both score their 300th goal in the same season was Bobby Holik and Slava Kozlov with Atlanta in 2006-07 … Before that, you have to go back to Ulf Dahlen and Scott Young with Dallas in 2002-03.

CLOSE CALLS
The Avalanche has played 25 one-goal games this season, tied with Detroit for the most of any team in the NHL … The Avs are also tied for the league lead with 16 one-goal wins, posting a 16-8-1 record in those 25 contests … The Rangers and Red Wings also have 16 victories … 57% of Colorado's games this year have been decided by one goal.

PROTECTING A LEAD
Colorado is 15-0-0 when leading after two periods, the only NHL team to win every game when leading after 40 minutes this season … The Avalanche has actually won its last 23 games when carrying a lead into the third period, the longest active streak in the league.

BACK-TO-BACK
The Avalanche is playing back-to-back games for the fifth time this season … After last night's loss in St. Louis, the Avs are now 1-4-0 in the first game of a back-to-back set and 1-2-1 in the second … Colorado will play only eight back-to-back games this season, its fewest since the lockout … The Avalanche had 10 back-to-back sets in 2007-08, 11 in 2006-07 and 13 in 2005-06.
