OILERS FACE-OFF AGAINST WILD
- The Edmonton Oilers (24-20-3) host the Minnesota Wild (24-20-3) tonight at Rexall Place in the second game of a four-game homestand.
- The Oilers are 0-1-0 on the homestand following a 10-2 loss vs Buffalo (Jan. 27).
- The Oilers are 5-2-0 in their last seven games (Jan. 11-27).

- The Oilers season-high three-game home winning streak saw them compile a 3-0-0 record at Rexall Place from Jan. 11-20 with wins vs St. Louis (W. 2-1, Jan. 11), vs Phoenix (W. 6-3; Jan. 18) and vs Columbus (W. 4-3; Jan. 20).
- The Oilers return home from a three-game road trip that saw them compile a 2-1-0 record. Edmonton opened the road trip with a 5-2 win at Washington (Jan. 13), then lost 5-1 at Minnesota (Jan. 15) before concluding the road swing with a 3-2 win at Colorado (Jan. 16).
- Following tonight's game vs Minnesota, the Oilers will continue their homestand with games vs Nashville (Feb. 1) and Chicago (Feb. 3).

OF NOTE
- Ales Hemsky was named the NHL's "Third Star" for the week ending January 25th. Hemsky equaled a career-high with four points (2-2-4) in the Oilers 4-3 win vs Columbus (Jan. 20).
- Sheldon Souray scored twice and added an assist for the Western Conference All-Stars at the NHL All-Star Game in Montreal on January 25th. It was Souray's third NHL All-Star Game appearance. He earned second star honours as selected by Hockey Night In Canada and finished third in the Hardest Shot competition at the NHL SuperSkills (Jan. 24) with a blast of 102.3 mph.
- Andrew Cogliano won the Fasterst Skater competition at the NHL SuperSkills (Jan. 24) with a time of 14.31 seconds.
- Tom Gilbert brings a career-high four-game scoring streak into tonight's game vs Minnesota. The Oilers defenceman, who has scored 3-22-25 in 47 games this season, has scored 1-5-6 from Jan. 16-27.
- Tom Gilbert's 22 assists are a single-season career-high, surpassing his previous high of 20 assists scored with the Oilers in 2007-08.
- Steve Staios, who is playing in his 499th career Oilers game tonight, leads the Oilers and is 15th in the NHL with 95 blocked shots.
- Shawn Horcoff has won 52.5% of his face-offs (542-1032) this season to rank 31st in the NHL. He is 2nd in the League in total face-offs (1032) and 3rd in face-offs won (542).
- Denis Grebeshkov has scored points (1-3-4) in four of the last six games (Jan. 13-27). He scored a goal vs Columbus (Jan. 20) and had a three-game scoring streak ended in the 6-3 win vs Phoenix (Jan. 18). He scored assists (0-3-3) in each of the Oilers three games between Jan. 13-16. It was Grebeshkov's second three-game scoring streak of the season as he also started the season with points in the first three games (0-4-4; Oct. 12-17).
- Lubomir Visnovsky has assisted on the Oilers last two GWGs (Jan. 18 vs Phoenix & Jan. 20 vs Columbus).
- Dustin Penner netted the GWG vs Phoenix (Jan. 18). It marks Penner's fifth game winner of the season. He leads the Oilers and is tied for 11th in the NHL in game winning goals. Penner's GWG have been scored vs Colorado (Oct. 12), at Philadelphia (Nov. 2), at St. Louis (Nov. 29), vs Vancouver (Dec. 13) and vs Phoenix (Jan. 18).
- Prior to Penner's GWG vs Phoenix (Jan. 18), Kyle Brodziak had assisted on the Oilers two previous game winning goals. He earned an assist on Gilbert Brule's game winner in the 5-2 win at Washignton (Jan. 13) and then had a helper on Shawn Horcoff's winning goal at Colorado (Jan. 16).
- Oilers assistant captain Steve Staios played his 800th career NHL game last night at Minnesota (Jan. 15). He has scored 35-97-132 in 804 career NHL games since making his NHL debut with Boston in 1995-96.
- Steve MacIntyre scored his first Oilers/NHL goal at Washington on January 13, 2009. The goal came against Capitals goaltender Jose Theodore at 12:59 of the first period and was assisted by Denis Grebeshkov and Gilbert Brule. MacIntyre becomes the sixth player to score his first Oilers goal this season, joining Lubomir Visnovsky (Oct. 15 at ANA), Erik Cole (Oct. 17 at CGY), Liam Reddox (Nov. 15 vs COL), Jason Strudwick (Jan. 5 vs NYI) and Gilbert Brule (Jan. 11 vs STL).
- The Oilers earned their 20th win of the season with a 2-1 victory vs St. Louis on Jan. 11 at Rexall Place. It marks the 28th time in 29 seasons that the Oilers have won at least 20 games.
- Dwayne Roloson made 25 saves in the Oilers 3-2 win vs NY Islanders (Jan. 5) to register his 150th career NHL victory. Roloson, who earned his 60th win as an Oiler vs Dallas (W. 4-1, Jan. 3), has a career NHL record of 154-184-61 in 429 NHL games.
- Dwayne Roloson played his 150th career Oilers game at Calgary (Dec. 31). He is 6th on Edmonton's career list for games played by a goaltender with 160.
- Roloson started five consecutive games for the Oilers and was 3-1-1 from Dec. 17-28. Since November 15th, Roloson has appeared in 25 of 31 games, starting 24 of the games. He is 13-8-2 in the 24 starts and has allowed two-or-less goals in 14 of the 24 starts.
- Jason Strudwick earned first star honours in the Oilers 3-2 win vs NY Islanders (Jan. 5), scoring his first career Oilers goal and registering a team-high +2. Strudwick and his fourth-line teammates - Kyle Brodziak & Zack Stortini - accounted for two of the Oilers goals in the win over the visiting Islanders. Down 2-0 after the first period, Brodziak put the Oilers on the scoreboard with his 7th goal at 10:50 of the second period and Strudwick tied the game at 13:58 with Stortini earning an assist. The trio combined to score 2-1-3 and were +6.
- Shawn Horcoff scored two assists vs Dallas (Jan. 3) to register his 200th career Oilers/NHL assist. His second assist of the game on Dustin Penner's second period PPG, was the miletsone assist.
- Horcoff's 200 assists places him 13th on the Oilers all-time list. He is the second Oiler to reach the 200-assists milestone this season joining Ales Hemsky, who reached the milestone at Colorado (Oct. 23).
- Sheldon Souray scored the GWG in the Oilers 4-1 win vs Dallas (Jan. 3). The Oilers defenceman is 2nd on the team in GWG, behind Dustin Penner's team-leading five, with all three of his GWG coming in the last 10 Edmonton victories (Dec. 22-Jan. 20).
- Erik Cole has scored points (8-5-13) in eight of the last 14 games (Dec. 28-Jan. 22).
- Ales Hemsky scored his 300th career point with two PPA in the Oilers 3-2 win at Vancouver on Dec. 26. Hemsky's second assist of the game came on Sheldon Souray's GWG and was the milestone marker. He is the 15th player in Oilers history to score 300-or-more career points and has 84-222-306 in 384 career games.
- Ales Hemsky is tied for 17th in NHL powerplay scoring with 2-18-20. His 18 PPA are 3rd in the NHL. Hemsky has been involved in 20 of the Oilers 38 PPG (52.6%) this season.
- Zack Stortini registered his 400th career NHL PIM with a season-high 15 PIM vs Dallas (Jan. 3). The 15 PIM also took him over the 100 PIM mark for the season, marking the third consecutive season he has registered 100-or-more PIM.

The Oilers returned to the ice following the NHL All-Star Game and suffered their worse loss on home ice in franchise history as they fell 10-2 to the Buffalo Sabres. Drew Stafford, the nephew of Oilers equipment manager Barrie Stafford, paced the Sabres offence with his second career hat trick, Tim Connolly netted 2-1-3 and Thomas Vanek and Derek Roy each scored a goal and two assists. Stafford opened the scoring with his first goal of the game only 10 seconds into the game and Nathan Paetsch made it 2-0 at 1:11. After Derek Roy scored the Sabres third goal at 10:17 of the opening period. the Oilers replaced Dwayne Roloson in goal with Jeff Deslauriers. The Sabres would score four more times in the second period and three times in the third period to reach double digits in goals. Erik Cole and Robert Nilsson scored goals for the Oilers. Nilsson registered his second multiple point game of the season with 1-1-2 as he earned an assist on Cole's second period PPG. Tom Gilbert extended his scoring streak to a career-high four games with an assist on Nilsson's goal at 17:52 of the third period. Gilbert has scored 1-5-6 from Jan. 16-27.

ROAD REPORT
- The Oilers are 13-11-0 on the road this season.
- Edmonton's 13 road wins are tied for fourth place in the NHL. Boston and New Jersey leads the NHL with 17 road wins and are followed by Detroit (15).
- Edmonton played 18 of its first 26 games on the road this season between Oct. 15 and Dec. 6.

THE HOME FRONT
- The Oilers are 11-9-3 in 23 games at Rexall Place this season.
- Edmonton is 7-4-0 in its last 11 home games (Dec. 22-Jan. 27).

HATS OF TO MOREAU AND COLE
- After going 201 games without a hat trick in regular season play, the Oilers scored two hat tricks in a span of four games (Jan. 13-20).
- Ethan Moreau scored his first career NHL hat trick with three goals in the Oilers 6-3 win vs Phoenix (Jan. 18). The Oilers captain scored twice in the first period and then completed his hat trick into an empty net with 0.4 seconds remaining on the scoreclock.
- Moreau's three goals were his 97th, 98th and 99th as an Oiler, leaving him one shy of the century mark in career Edmonton goals. With his next goal, Moreau will become the 16th player in Oilers history to score 100-or-more regular season goals.
- Prior to the hat trick, Moreau's single-game career-high for goals was two. He had nine two-goal games, the most recent coming at Carolina on Nov. 1, 2008.
- Erik Cole registered the Oilers first hat trick of the season in the 5-2 road win at Washington (Jan. 13). It was Cole's first hat trick as an Oiler and the fifth of his NHL career.
- Cole's hat trick was the 159th regular season hat trick for the Oilers since 1979-80 and the first since Ryan Smyth scored three times vs San Jose on Oct. 12, 2006.
- Cole's third goal of his hat trick at Washington (Jan. 13) was his 300th career NHL point.

A CASE FOR THE DEFENCE
- Four of the Oilers top nine scorers are defencemen. Sheldon Souray leads the way with 12-20-32 in 46 games to rank him 2nd on the Oilers scoring list and he is tied for 2nd on the team with his 12 goals and is 1st with 7 PPG. Souray is 10th in scoring among NHL defencemen, while he is tied for 4th in goals and 3rd in PPG.
- Souray, who was named to the Western Conference All-Star Team on Jan. 7th, is joined by Lubomir Visnovksy (4th on Oilers & 17th in the NHL) with 7-22-29, Tom Gilbert (3-22-25) and Denis Grebeshkov (4-18-22).
- Souray had a career-high three-game goal scoring streak ended in the Oilers 3-2 loss vs Ottawa (Dec. 30). He scored 3-0-3 from Dec. 22-28. He scored the GWG in three of the Oilers four wins from Dec. 22 to Jan. 3, netting back-to-back game winners vs Phoenix (Dec. 22) and at Vancouver (Dec. 26) and also vs Dallas (Jan. 3).
- Visnovsky is tied with Ales Hemsky for the Oilers lead with 10 multiple point games, registering his 10th with a goal and an assist vs Columbus (Jan. 20). He registered three consecutive multiple point games from Dec. 22-28.
- Visnovsky had a four game scoring streak (0-7-7; Dec. 19-28) ended in a 3-2 loss vs Ottawa (Dec. 30), but returned to the scoresheet with a goal at Calgary (Dec. 31) and an assist vs Dallas (Jan. 3). He scored points (1-9-10) in seven of 10 games games (Dec. 19-Jan. 9).
- Visnovsky's first assist vs Nashivlle (Dec. 28) was his 300th career NHL point.
- Grebeshkov was involved in all four of the Oilers goals in a 6-4 loss at Calgary (Dec. 31). He scored 1-3-4 to register single-game career-highs in both points and assists.
- Grebeshkov has scored points (1-4-5) in five of the Oilers last six games (Jan. 13-27). He had a three-game scoring streak (0-3-3; Jan. 13-16) ended vs Phoenix (Jan. 18) and then scored his 4th goal of the season vs Columbus (Jan. 20).

HEMSKY HOLDS HOT HAND
- Ales Hemsky enters tonight's game as the Oilers leading scorer with 14-27-41 in 37 games. Hemsky leads the Oilers in both goals and assists. He is among the NHL leaders in several categories.
- Since returning to the lineup in the Oilers 6-3 win vs Phoenix (Jan. 18) after missing 10 games (Dec. 30-Jan. 16) due to a concussion suffered vs Nashville (Dec. 28), Hemsky has scored 4-2-6 with points in two of the three games. He registered multiple point games in his first two games as he scored twice vs Phoenix (Jan. 14) and then equaled his single-game career-high with 2-2-4 in a 4-3 win vs Columbus (Jan. 20).
- The Edmonton assistant captain is among the NHL leaders in powerplay assists (3rd with 18), is tied for 17th place in powerplay scoring with 2-18-20 and is tied for 5th with two shootout deciding goals.
- Ales Hemsky scored his 300th career point with two PPA in the Oilers 3-2 win at Vancouver on Dec. 26. Hemsky's second assist of the game came on Sheldon Souray's GWG was the milestone assist and made him the 15th player in Oilers history to score 300-or-more career points.
- Hemsky was held scoreless for only the 10th time this season in the Oilers 10-2 loss vs Buffalo (Jan. 27).
- Hemsky had career-high eight game scoring streak (3-7-11; Nov. 18-Dec. 6) ended in the Oilers 2-0 loss vs Florida (Dec. 11). The streak is the longest of the season by an Oiler and is tied for the 10th longest streak in the NHL.
- The Oilers assistant captain scored points (10-19-29) in 20 of 26 games (Oct. 30-Dec. 28) and points (10-21-31) in 22 of 29 games (Oct. 23-Dec. 28).
- Hemsky has scored 7-17-24 in 20 road games this season.
- Hemsky scored the deciding goal in the shootout win at Los Angeles (Dec. 5). He is now 2-3 in shootouts this season with both goals being the deciding goal (Nov. 10 at NYR & Dec. 5 at Los Angeles).
- Hemsky now has an Oilers team record six shootout deciding goals.

HORCOFF PLAYS 500TH CAREER OILERS/NHL GAME
- Shawn Horcoff became the 18th player in Oilers history to play 500-or-more games with Edmonton when he skated vs Detroit on November 20th. Horcoff moved past Esa Tikkanen into 17th place on the all-time list with his 523rd game at Minnesota (Jan. 15).
- Oilers captain Ethan Moreau played in his 533rd career Oilers game vs Nashville (Dec. 28/08) to move past Paul Coffey and Jason Smith to sit alone in 14th place with 546 games.
- Steve Staios is also nearing the 500 game milestone. The Oilers defenceman is currently in 19th place with 498 games.
- Once Staios reaches the milestone, there will be three Oilers with 500-or-more games on the roster as team captain Ethan Moreau became the 17th player in team history to play 500-plus games on Feb. 24, 2007 vs Colorado.
