Today's Game

THE TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS WOULD LIKE TO WELCOME THE EDMONTON OILERS AND THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE EDMONTON MEDIA

Tonight's game marks the second and final meeting of the season between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers. In the first contest on November 13, the Maple Leafs posted a 5-2 win over the Oilers at Rexall place. Tomas Kaberle had a goal and two assists to pass Ian Turnbull for third place in all-time scoring among Leafs defencemen. Matt Stajan added three assists while Nikolai Kulemin, Nik Antopov, Ian White and Mikhail Grabovski also tallied for Toronto.

Toronto's next game is on Monday, March 9 against the Ottawa Senators at Scotiabank Place. Game time is 7:30 p.m. The Maple Leafs return home to Air Canada Centre the next night (Tuesday, March 10) to host the New York Islanders at 7:30 p.m.

Martin Gerber made 37 saves in his Maple Leafs debut as Toronto defeated the Washington Capitals 2-1 at the Verizon Center.
Lee Stempniak and Pavel Kubina each scored for Toronto. Gerber, who was claimed off waivers from the Ottawa Senators on
March 4, earned his fifth win of the season in his first game since January 8. Alexander Semin was Washington’s lone goal scorer,
tallying with just 39 seconds left in the game to deflate Gerber’s shutout bid. Jose Theodore allowed two goals on 29 shots for the
Capitals in the loss. Alexander Ovechkin missed the game with a heel injury.

Johnny Oduya scored the game-winning goal with 11.4 seconds remaining in overtime as the New Jersey Devils edged the
Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 at Air Canada Centre. David Clarkson and Patrik Elias also tallied for the Devils and Martin Brodeur turned
aside 30-of-32 shots in the win. John Mitchell accounted for both Toronto goals, while Vesa Toskala made 49 saves in defeat. The
Maple Leafs tied an NHL record by going to overtime in seven consecutive games. Toronto forwards Nik Antropov and Dominic
Moore were healthy scratches.

Pavel Kubina scored twice, including the winner 33 seconds into overtime, as the Toronto Maple Leafs came back to edge the
Ottawa Senators 4-3 at Scotiabank Place. Kubina also netted the tying goal in the third period, while Jamal Mayers and rookie Tim
Stapleton also tallied for the Maple Leafs. Stapleton's marker was the first of his NHL career. Curtis Joseph turned aside 29-of-32
shots for the Maple Leafs in the win. Ryan Shannon, Jarkko Ruutu and Daniel Alfredsson accounted for the Ottawa goals. Brian

Nassau Coliseum. Nik Antropov, Nikolai Kulemin, Dominic Moore and Pavel Kubina each scored for the Maple Leafs. Jason
Blake and Ian White both collected two assists, while Vesa Toskala finished with 40 saves for Toronto in the win. Sean
Bergenheim, Jon Sim, Dean McAmmond and Mark Streit found the net for the Islanders. Joey MacDonald made 29 saves for
New York in a losing effort.

Vesa Toskala turned aside 31 shots and all three of the shooters he faced in the shootout to lead the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 2-1
win over the New York Rangers at Air Canada Centre. Niklas Hagman potted Toronto’s goal in regulation and Nikolai Kulemin
scored the lone goal in the shootout. Wade Redden scored for the Rangers and Henrik Lundqvist finished with 23 saves for New
York. The game marked John Tortorella's debut behind the Rangers’ bench after being named head coach on February 23.

LEAFS SET SEASON HIGH WITH FOUR-GAME WINNING STREAK
The Toronto Maple Leafs posted a season high four-game winning streak from February 22-to-28. Toronto's previous season-high winning streak was three games from December 8-to-16.

The Maple Leafs are also currently riding a season high eight-game point streak from February 19 to March 5 with a 5-0-3 record in that span.

TLUSTY SETS SINGLE-GAME FRANCHISE RECORDS FOR THE MARLIES
On March 4, Jiri Tlusty registered a Toronto Marlies' franchise record with six points (two goals, four assists) in a 6-4 win at Ricoh Coliseum over the Providence Bruins. Earlier this season on February 18, Tlusty had five goals (another franchise record) and a plus six (+6) rating for the Marlies in their 8-5 home win over the Syracuse Crunch. It was the first five-goal game in the American Hockey League since Jarkko Immonen tallied five times for the Hartford Wolf Pack on February 4, 2006 versus Portland.

On March 3, Tlusty was named CCM/AHL Player of the Month for February.

BLAKE LEADING THE WAY FOR THE MAPLE LEAFS
Jason Blake currently leads Toronto in goals (22), points (51), game-winning goals (5) and shots (231), is tied for the team lead in shorthanded goals (1) and is second in assists (29). Blake has registered at least one point in 14 of his last 19 games and has 22 points (nine goals, 13 assists) in that span.

KUBINA TIED FOR FOURTH AMONG DEFENCEMEN IN ALL-TIME OVERTIME GOALS
Pavel Kubina scored the game-winning goal in overtime on February 28 against the Ottawa Senators to lead the Maple Leafs to a 4-3 win. It was Kubina's second overtime goal of the season and sixth of his NHL career. Kubina is now tied for fourth among NHL defencemen in all-time overtime goals, just one behind teammate Tomas Kaberle.

HAGMAN NETS 200th POINT WITH OVERTIME WINNER
On February 22, Niklas Hagman scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 3-2 win over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. The goal marked Hagman's 200th career NHL point.

KUBINA HITS THREE SIGNIFICANT MILESTONES; CLOSES IN ON ONE MORE
With an assist on February 21 against the Vancouver Canucks, Pavel Kubina registered his 300th career NHL point. Earlier this season, Kubina recorded his 200th career NHL assist on January 15 against the Carolina Hurricanes and also suited up for his 700th career NHL game on December 28 against the Washington Capitals. Kubina has only played for two teams in his 11-year NHL career; the Tampa Bay Lightning (531 games from 1997 to 2006) and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Kubina is also approaching another milestones, as the 6-4, 244-pound defenceman needs just four goals for 100 career NHL goals.

LEAFS OUTSCORE PENS 5-0 IN THE THIRD PERIOD
On Saturday, February 14, the Toronto Maple Leafs posted five unanswered goals in the third period to defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-2. It was the second time this season the Maple Leafs outscored an opponent 5-0 in the third period after trailing at the end of the second period. Toronto also accomplished the feat in a 5-2 victory over the New York Rangers on November 1.

Before this season there were only two games in Leafs franchise history in which they trailed at the end of 40 minutes, then outscored their opponent by five goals or more in the third period: a 6-3 win over the Canadiens in Montreal in March 1936 and a 7-1 home win versus the Red Wings in February 1960.

WHITE POSTS PLUS FIVE (+5) RATING
Ian White recorded a plus five (+5) rating in the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on February 14, matching the single-game high in the NHL this season. Nashville's Shea Weber was plus five (+5) against the Columbus Blue Jackets on October 18 and Philadelphia's Jeff Carter was plus five (+5) versus the Washington Capitals on December 20.

White's career high is a plus six (+6), hitting the mark on January 4, 2007 against the Boston Bruins.

A MONTH TO REMEMBER FOR JASON BLAKE
Jason Blake scored nine goals in 13 games in the month of January. That total surpassed his career high for a calender month. Blake previously tallied eight times for the New York Islanders in November 2006.

Blake also tied a career high with a goal in four consecutive games (Jan. 21-31), and registered a five-game point streak (Jan. 21-Feb. 3) with nine points (four goals, five assists) in that span. The 5-10, 180-pound native of Moorhead, Minnesota previously posted a four-game goal streak from October 28 to November 4 with the Islanders during the 2006-07 season.

KABERLE MOVES INTO THIRD PLACE IN ALL-TIME SCORING AMONG LEAFS DEFENCEMEN
On November 13 against the Edmonton Oilers, Tomas Kaberle posted a goal and two assists to record his 415th point and surpass former Toronto blueliner Ian Turnbull for third place on the Maple Leafs all-time scoring list among defencemen. Kaberle now has 433 points (73 goals, 360 assists) in 732 games played.
