Paced by Sam Gagner's and Ales Kotalik's four-point games, the Oilers opened their three-game road trip with an 8-1 victory at Colorado. The eight-goal outburst was the most goals scored by the Oilers this season, surpassing two seven-goal games (W. 7-2 at CBJ, Nov. 18 & W. 7-2 vs MTL, Feb. 11), while the seven goal margin of victory was the largest by the Oilers.Gagner led the way with his first career NHL hat trick, scoring once in the second period and twice in the third, completing his first three goal game with only 2:40 remaining in the contest. He added an assist for a career-high four-point game. Kotalik, who had been held scoreless in his first six games since joining the Oilers at the trade deadline, scored his first goal and added three assists. Ethan Moreau, Shawn Horcoff, Fernando Pisani and Sheldon Souray also scored for the Oilers, who netted their eight goals on only 24 shots as Colorado held a 27-24 advantage on the shot clock. OILERS CONTINUE ROAD TRIP IN CHICAGO
- The Edmonton Oilers (34-27-9) continue their three-game road trip tonight as they visit the United Center to face-off against the Chicago Blackhawks (37-22-10).
- Tonight's game is the second of back-to-back games for the Oilers as they opened the road trip with an 8-1 win at Colorado (Mar. 19) last night. The Oilers are 7-7-0 in the first game and 6-6-1 in the second game.
- The Oilers will conclude the road trip at Minnesota (Mar. 22) with an afternoon game on Sunday. It will be the Oilers eighth and final afternoon game of the season. Edmonton is 4-2-1in matinees this season (0-1-0 at home and 4-1-1 on the road).
- The Oilers bring a two-game winning streak into tonight's game as they are 2-0-0 from Mar. 17-19.

The previous record of 20 consecutive starts was shared by Grant Fuhr and Bill Ranford. - Ales Hemsky enters tonight's game as the Oilers leading scorer with 21-35-56 in 60 games. Hemsky leads the Oilers in goals and is second in assists. He is among the NHL leaders in several categories.
- Since returning to the lineup in the Oilers 6-3 win vs Phoenix (Jan. 18) after missing 10 games (Dec. 30-Jan. 16) due to a concussion suffered vs Nashville (Dec. 28), Hemsky has scored 11-10-21. - The Oilers assistant captain scored points (10-19-29) in 20 of 26 games (Oct. 30-Dec. 28) and points (10-21-31) in 22 of 29 games (Oct. 23-Dec. 28).
- Hemsky has scored 9-23-32 in 32 road games this season.
