March 25: MIN 6 at NYI 2: RW Marian Gaborik (2-2=4), LW Andrew Brunette (1-2=3), RW Owen Nolan (1-2=3) and D Marek Zidlicky (0-3=3) registered multi-point games and G Niklas Backstrom made 32 saves in the Wild's 6-2 win at Nassau Coliseum.

March 24: MIN 1 at NYR 2: RW Marian Gaborik scored his fourth goal of the season and G Niklas Backstrom made 28 saves, but RW Nikolai Zherdev scored a goal and an assist to lead New York over Minnesota 2-1. G Henrik Lundqvist made 18 saves for the win and C Scott Gomez scored the game winning goal in the second period, 53 seconds after Gaborik tied the game for the Wild.

March 22: MIN 3 vs. EDM 0: RW Owen Nolan scored twice and G Niklas Backstrom made 31 saves in the Wild's 3-0 win in front of 18,568 at Xcel Energy Center..LW Stephane Veilleux also scored. G Dwayne Roloson made 33 saves for Edmonton.

March 20: MIN 0 at NJ 4: G Martin Brodeur made 35 saves and RW Brian Gionta, LW Patrik Elias (2) and D Johnny Oduya scored in New Jersey's 4-0 win at Prudential Center. The Wild went 0-for-7 on the power play. G Niklas Backstrom allowed three goals on 11 shots in 31:02 of action.

Minnesota Wild Notes

Tonight's Storylines:

The Minnesota Wild (35-32-8) completes its final regular season trip to Western Canada tonight when it takes on the Edmonton Oilers (36-30-9). The Wild is 1-2-0 on this four-game trip. It dropped a 2-1 decision at the Rangers (3/24), defeated the Islanders 6-2 (3/25) and fell to the Flames 3-2 last night.

Minnesota registered a season-low 15 shots last night at Calgary dropping its seventh straight decision at Pengrowth Saddledome and is 1-14-2 in its last 17 trips overall.

Tonight's game completes a stretch of 14-of-17 games on the road for the Wild. In the stretch, which began 2/27 at Calgary, Minnesota is 5-8-3, and just 3-8-2 on the road. The Wild does have points in seven of its last 11 games (4-4-3) including four games that went to overtime or a shootout (1-0-3). This stretch has included a franchise record six-game trip, a three-game trek, one game at New Jersey and this four-game trip.

Minnesota leads the season series against Edmonton 3-2-0 (1 SO win), outscoring the Oilers 14-9, but has lost both meetings at Rexall Place and the last four meetings overall at Edmonton being outscored 15-8. The current four-game losing streak follows a stretch that saw the Wild go 8-1-1 at Rexall Place (12/26/05 - 11/15/07) outscoring the Oilers 37-21.

RW Marian Gaborik has played in four games since returning from a 38-game absence after having left hip surgery 1/5. Gaborik has five points (3-2=5), including four points (2-2=4) in a 6-2 win over the Islanders Wednesday. It marked his first four point game since tallying six (5-1=6) against the Rangers 12/20/07. The Wild is 25-0-2 all-time when Gaborik has three or more points, and 34-3-3 when he scores two or more goals. The Wild is 6-3-1 with Gaborik in the lineup this season. Since 2005-06, Minnesota is 113-64-23 with Gaborik in the lineup and 51-62-11 without him.

Gaborik's 37 points (16-21=37) in 43 games against the Oilers are the most he has scored against any opponent.

G Niklas Backstrom recorded his 33rd win of the season Wednesday against the Islanders, tying the team record and has started each of the Wild's last 14 games. He also has team records this season in games played (65) and shutouts (seven), and his 16 career shutouts and 12 at Xcel Energy Center are also franchise marks. Backstrom, who signed a four-year contract extension March 3 and represented the Wild at the 2009 NHL All-Star Game, is 45-15-14 with a 2.17 GAA and a .923 SV% in his career after the All-Star break (as of 3/28). He is 44-29-7 with a 2.32 GAA and a .922 SV% prior to the All-Star break. Since breaking into the league in 2006-07, Backstrom ranks 2nd in post All-Star win pct (.712), T-4th in wins (45), 2nd in GAA (2.17), 2nd in shutouts (eight) and 3rd in SV% (.923). Since 2006-07, Backstrom ranks 4th in win pct (.650), 2nd in GAA (2.24) and 1st in SV% (.922). (as of 3/28)

Backstrom is 10-0-0 with a 1.09 GAA, a .957 SV% and four shutouts in 10 starts against Edmonton at Xcel Energy Center and 2-1-0 with a 3.53 GAA and a .864 SV% in five starts at Rexall Place. He has been pulled in his last four starts at Edmonton.

Minnesota has excelled over the final 12 games in each of the last two seasons, going a combined 16-4-4. The Wild was 9-2-1 in the final 12 games in 2006-07, and 7-2-3 in the last 12 games last season. The Wild is 2-3-0 this season.

RW Cal Clutterbuck has 323 hits this season, a new NHL record. Hits were first counted in the 2005-06 season. The old NHL record was 311, set by Los Angeles' Dustin Brown last season. Clutterbuck, who has four times recorded nine hits or more in a game in 2008-09, set a franchise record with 10 hits vs. San Jose (3/10).

D Marek Zidlicky has four assists in his last three games and he is on the verge of breaking the Wild record for assists by a defenseman. Zidlicky has 27 helpers, one off Brent Burns' team record of 28, set last season. Zidlicky, who recorded his ninth career three-assist game Wednesday on Long Island, leads Wild defenseman in points with 38 (11-27=38) - five points off Burns' team record (15-28=43). Zidlicky has a defenseman franchise record 10 PPG and 23 PP points.

RW Owen Nolan has five points (3-2=5) in the last four games and leads the team with 23 goals and five GWGs this season. He scored two goals 3/10 against San Jose to give him 401 in his NHL career; he became the 14th active player to reach the 400-goal plateau. Nolan has 847 points (404-443=848) in 1,120 NHL games. He ranks 14th amongst active players in goals scored, ninth with 150 PPG, 10th with 1,753 PIM and 27th in games played. Minnesota is 28-19-5 with Nolan in the lineup this season, 17-6-2 when he has at least one point and 11-5-2 when he scores a goal.

Minnesota scored two even-strength goals at Calgary (3/28) and is now 24-8-2 this season when scoring at least two even-strength goals. It has scored one or fewer even strength goals 41 times in 75 games this season and is 11-24-6 in those games. Fifteen times, Minnesota has been held without an even strength score. The Wild has 120 even strength goals this season - only Los Angeles (114) has fewer, as of 3/28.

The Wild completes its 16th set of back-to-back games tonight. Minnesota is 5-9-2 in game one, and 6-9-0 in game two of back-to-backs this season. The Wild has swept both games twice but has lost both games six times. Minnesota has one set of back-to-back games remaining, vs. NSH (4/10) and at CBJ (4/11).

RW Pierre-Marc Bouchard had an assist Wednesday to give him 31 points (9-22=31) in 38 contests since 12/31/08, the team's leading scorer in that span. Minnesota is 14-5-3 in that stretch when Bouchard has at least one point. He ranks second on the team in points (16-30=46) and fourth with 16 goals. The Wild is 32-4-2 when Bouchard scores a goal, dating back to 12/23/06. Minnesota is 7-2-0 this season when Bouchard scores at least two points and is 45-7-1 all-time when he scores at least two points.

Bouchard has 29 points (8-21=29) in 34 games against Edmonton, his highest point total against any opponent.

D Marc-Andre Bergeron scored at St. Louis (3/15) to give him 11 goals this season, tied with D Marek Zidlicky for the team lead among defenseman. The Wild have a pair of defensemen with 10 goals for the first time in team history. Bergeron's 11 goals are four off his career-high, set in 2005-06 with Edmonton. Only one defenseman in team history (Brent Burns, 15, last season) has more than 11 goals in a single season.

RW Antti Miettinen tied his career-high with his 15th goal of the season at New York (3/25). Miettinen has already set new career-highs this season with 43 points and 28 assists and recorded his first two career shorthanded goals earlier this season (2/8, 2/28).

C Mikko Koivu, who suffered a knee injury Sunday vs. Edmonton, leads the Wild in points (62) and assists (44), is tied for first in SHG (2) and second in goals (18). Koivu's 44 assists are the fourth-most by a Wild player in a single season - one off Brian Rolston's 2005-06, third-place total of 45, and seven off Pierre-Marc Bouchard's team record from 2007-08. Koivu has also recorded just the 10th 60-point season in team history. Just two have reached 70 (Marian Gaborik had 83 in 2007-08, and Brian Rolston had 79 in 2005-06). The Wild is 11-4-1 this season when he scores a goal, and 10-3-1 when he has two or more points. The Wild is 9-1-0 all-time when Koivu has three or more points.

Special Teams: Minnesota is second in the NHL in PK at 87.4%, and the Wild leads all road teams by killing at an 88.5% rate. Minnesota has allowed just 17 PPG on the road - no other team has allowed less than 22. Minnesota is 26-15-4 this season when not allowing a PPG and 9-17-4 when yielding at least one. The Wild's team record for PK% is 87.4%, set in 2004-05. Since the beginning of the 2006-07 season, the Wild is 82-33-14 when not allowing a power-play goal. Minnesota is 12th in the NHL on the power play at 19.8%, but it scored three PPG Wednesday against the Islanders, equaling its total for its last 11 games combined. The Wild is 22-11-4 when scoring a PPG this season, and 13-21-4 when failing to score a PPG this season.

PACKED HOUSE: In its ninth NHL season, the Minnesota Wild has sold out all 361 home games played in club history, including 324 regular season games, 24 preseason contests and 13 playoff games. The official capacity of Xcel Energy Center for Minnesota Wild games is 18,064. The largest crowd ever to see a Wild hockey game at Xcel Energy Center is 19,398 on October 5, 2005, when the Wild hosted the Calgary Flames on Opening Night in 2005. During the 2000-01 campaign, the Wild set an NHL expansion team attendance record when it drew 751,472 fans in 41 regular season home dates. The largest crowd to ever see a hockey game at Xcel Energy Center was February 7 for the NHL YoungStars Game and the Dodge/NHL SuperSkills Competition and February 8 for the NHL All-Star game. Each night 19,434 fans were in attendance, establishing a hockey attendance record in the state of Minnesota. The franchise celebrated its 300th straight sellout Jan. 16, 2008 against Calgary.
