Feb. 27: MIN 1 at CGY 2: After a scoreless first period, LW Mike Cammalleri and D Dion Phaneuf scored 37 seconds into the second period and G Miikka Kiprusoff made 15 saves to help lead the Calgary Flames to a 4-1 home win over the Minnesota Wild...D Marc-Andre Bergeron scored for the Wild and G Niklas Backstrom made 25 saves.

Feb. 24: MIN 1 vs. LA 2 (SO): D Jack Johnson scored a power-play goal and added the shootout game winner and G Jonathan Quick made 23 saves, leading the Los Angeles Kings over the Minnesota Wild 2-1 in front of 18,568 at Xcel Energy Center. G Niklas Backstrom made 24 saves and RW Antti Miettinen scored a short-handed goal for the Wild.

Feb. 22: MIN 2 at CHI 1: G Josh Harding made a career-high 44 saves and the Wild went 8-for-8 on the penalty kill to defeat the Chicago Blackhawks 2-1 at United Center...LW Dan Fritsche's power play goal tied the game 1-1 and C Peter Olvecky's first career NHL goal at the 3:30 mark of the third period proved to be the game-winner...Minnesota was outshot 45-24 in the game.

Feb. 21: MIN 5 vs. DET 2: RW Owen Nolan scored two goals and added an assist, RW Pierre-Marc Bouchard had a goal and an assist and G Niklas Backstrom made 35 saves as the Wild defeated the Detroit Red Wings 5-2 Saturday night in front of 18,568 at Xcel Energy Center. C Tomas Kopecky and LW Ville Leino scored for Detroit and G James Howard made 24 saves in his first start of the season.

Feb. 19: MIN 2 vs. CGY 3 (OT): D Adrian Aucoin scored with 1:10 left in overtime and G Miikka Kiprusoff made 25 saves for his record 22^nd win against Minnesota, as the Calgary Flames edged the Wild 3-2 in front of 18,568 at Xcel Energy Center. LW Dan Fritsche scored his first goal with Minnesota, rookie LW Colton Gillies scored his second goal of the season and G Niklas Backstrom made 19 saves.

Minnesota Wild Notes

Tonight's Storylines:
The Minnesota Wild (30-25-5) plays game two of a season-long six-game, 11-day road trip tonight in Edmonton against the Oilers (30-26-5). The Wild, which is in game two of a stretch of 14-of-17 games on the road through 3/29, has only once before gone on a six-game road trip, 1/24-2/9/01, however there was a six-day All-Star break in between the first three games and the last three games.

The Wild is 23-17-8 all-time against the Oilers. The 23 wins are the most by Minnesota against any team and its 10 victories at Edmonton (10-8-6) are tied for the most wins on the road by the team (General Motors Place and United center).

The Wild started its road trip with a 4-1 loss at Calgary Friday to snap a four-game point streak (2-0-2). The Wild registered a season-low 16 shots on goal and saw its all-time record at Pengrowth Saddledome drop to 3-17-4. D Marc-Andre Bergeron scored for the Wild and G Niklas Backstrom made 25 saves.

LW Dan Fritsche registered his first assist with Minnesota Friday at Calgary and has tallied three points (2-1=3) in his last five games.

Minnesota allowed one power play in five chances at Calgary and is 29-for-31 in its last seven games (93.5%) and leads the NHL on the PK at 87.7% this season. The Wild's team record for PK% is 87.4%, set in 2004-05. No team has finished at the 88.0% mark since Buffalo in 2000-01, and only nine teams have finished at 88.0% or above since 1973. Since entering the league in 2000-01, the Wild leads all NHL teams with an 85.5% mark. Buffalo is second at 84.9%. On the road this season, the Wild is killing penalties at an amazing 89.6%. The last team to top the 90.0% mark on the road was New Jersey in 1996-97.

The Wild completes its 12th set of back-to-backs tonight. Minnesota swept its back-to-back series against Detroit (5-2) and Chicago (2-1) last weekend and is 5-6-1 in game one, and 4-7-0 in game two of back-to-backs this season. It was just the second time this season the Wild swept both games (also 11/28 vs. TB and 11/29 at NSH) but has lost both games in regulation four times. Minnesota has five more back-to-backs left after this set, including four more that include two road games.

Tuesday, RW Antti Miettinen scored the Wild’s fourth short-handed goal in the last eight games. Miettinen had no short-handed goals in his first 289 NHL games. He has two in the last nine, with the other coming 2/8 against Edmonton. Miettinen, who already has a career-high with 39 points (13-16=29), is two goals off his career-high, set last season with Dallas. Tonight Miettinen will play in his 299th NHL game. Miettinen has 130 career points (51-79=130).

G Niklas Backstrom, who represented the Wild at the 2009 NHL All-Star Game, is 40-10-11 with a 2.04 GAA and a .926 SV% in his career after the All-Star break, and 44-29-7 with a 2.32 GAA and a .922 SV% prior to the All-Star break. Since breaking into the league in 2006-07, Backstrom ranks 2nd in post All-Star win pct (.745), T2nd in wins (40), 1st in GAA (2.04), T2nd in shutouts (seven) and 2nd in SV% (.928). In his first two seasons, Backstrom sported a 35-8-9 record, a 1.77 GAA and a .934 SV% at Xcel Energy Center, and a 21-13-5 record, a 2.67 GAA and a .911 SV% on the road. This season, the numbers are remarkably different. He is 18-9-4 with a 2.30 GAA and a .920 SV% at home, and 10-9-0 but with a 2.12 GAA and a .932 SV% on the road. Backstrom made 34 saves for a 3-0 shutout win over Anaheim 2/4, his record-tying 15th shutout with the Wild, his record-tying 11th shutout at Xcel Energy Center, and also his new team record and personal best sixth shutout overall this season. Backstrom is the lone NHL goalie to be ranked in the top five in all five major statistical categories.

Last week was a memorable one for D Martin Skoula. He scored his first goal of the season against Detroit (2/21), and assisted on RW Peter Olvecky's third period GWG the following night at Chicago. That game also marked Skoula's 700th NHL game. No other NHL defenseman has played more games since Skoula's rookie season of 1999-2000, and only four forwards have played more games in that span. Skoula became the youngest of the 46 active NHL defensemen with at least 700 games played. Skoula, who won't turn 30 until October, has 177 points (38-139=177) in 702 games in his nine NHL seasons, and won a Stanley Cup with Colorado in 2001. Skoula has missed just six games due to injury or illness in nine seasons.

C Mikko Koivu picked up a short-handed assist Tuesday, giving him a new career-high with 55 points (16-39=55). His old high was 54 (20-34=54) in 2006-07. Koivu has 14 points (4-10=14) in the last 16 games, and 18 points (4-14=18) in the last 20 games. Koivu is second on the team in goals (16), first in assists (39), points (55) and tied for first in SHG (2) and +/- (+4). He set a new career-high with his 35th assist 2/4. The Wild is 10-4-0 this season when Koivu has a goal, and 10-3-0 when he has two or more points. Koivu became the eighth player in Wild history to reach 50 goals 1/19. The Wild is 9-1-0 all-time when Koivu has three or more points. He is just the third player in team history to serve as captain for three months in a single season.

RW Pierre-Marc Bouchard ranks third on the team with 14 goals this season. The Wild is 31-4-1 when Bouchard scores a goal, dating back to 12/23/06. Minnesota is 7-2-0 this season when Bouchard scores at least two points and is 45-7-1 all-time when he scores at least two points. Bouchard has 22 points (7-15=22) in 24 games since 12/31/08 vs. San Jose, the team's leading scorer in that span.

Minnesota is 19-22-4 against the Western Conference. The Wild hasn't had a losing record against the West since 2003-04. From 2006-08, the Wild went 82-46-16 versus the Western Conference. Tonight's game marks the sixth of 15 straight against the West.

RW Cal Clutterbuck has an NHL-best 239 hits this season. The NHL record for hits in a season is 311, set by Los Angeles' Dustin Brown last season. Hits were first counted in the 2004-05 season. Clutterbuck, who has three times recorded nine hits in a game in 2008-09, needs to average 3.31 hits per game over the final 22 games to break Brown's record.

LW Andrew Brunette is serving as the Wild's captain for February. This marks the fifth time in his career that Brunette has served as Wild captain – but the first since March/April, 2004. Only Brad Bombardir (seven) and Brian Rolston (five) have been captain as many as five months in their careers. In Brunette's first game as captain, he scored the GWG and later added an assist in a 3-0 win over Anaheim 2/4. Brunette missed Saturday's game due to a lower-body injury and ended his consecutive games played streak at 509. Brunette played in his 800th NHL game at Colorado (11/6). Brunette has 195 points (66-129=195) with the Wild, which places him fourth all-time. His 67 goals rank tied for fifth all time in franchise history with Pascal Dupuis, and his 129 assists are third all-time. The Wild is 8-0-1 this season when Brunette has at least two points. He is the Wild's fourth leading scorer (13-19=32).

G Niklas Backstrom posted a team-record and personal-best 149:14 shutout streak 12/31-1/8, including his second career set of back-to-back shutouts. Backstrom also established a new team record for road shutout streak (164:19), while the Wild set a new team record for longest road shutout streak (158:14). Backstrom has started 143 NHL games – allowing two goals or less 86 times, and three goals or less 127 times. Backstrom is 68-8-6 with four no decisions when yielding two goals or less. Among those goalies playing 100 or more games since the beginning of the 2006-07 season, Backstrom is 2nd in the NHL in win % at .664, 1st in SV Pct. at .924, T1st in GAA at 2.18 and T5th in shutouts with 15 (as of 2/27).

Special Teams: The Wild ranks 10th in the NHL on the power play at 20.2%. Minnesota is 20-9-2 when scoring a PPG this season, and 10-16-3 when failing to score one. Minnesota leads the NHL on the penalty kill at 87.7%. Just nine of the team's 27 PPG allowed this season have come in the third period. Since the beginning of the 2006-07 season, the Wild is 77-28-13 when not allowing a power-play goal. This season, Minnesota is 21-11-3 when not allowing a PPG, and 9-14-2 when yielding at least one.

PACKED HOUSE: In its ninth NHL season, the Minnesota Wild has sold out all 358 home games played in club history, including 321 regular season games, 24 preseason contests and 13 playoff games. The official capacity of Xcel Energy Center for Minnesota Wild games is 18,064. The largest crowd ever to see a Wild hockey game at Xcel Energy Center is 19,398 on October 5, 2005, when the Wild hosted the Calgary Flames on Opening Night in 2005. During the 2000-01 campaign, the Wild set an NHL expansion team attendance record when it drew 751,472 fans in 41 regular season home dates. The largest crowd to ever see a hockey game at Xcel Energy Center was February 7 for the NHL YoungStars Game and the Dodge/NHL SuperSkills Competition and February 8 for the NHL All-Star game. Each night 19,434 fans were in attendance, establishing a hockey attendance record in the state of Minnesota. The franchise celebrated its 300th straight sellout Jan. 16, 2008 against Calgary.
